MICINSNOW – Microbial Interactions in Snow-Covered Habitats

MICINSNOW – Microbial Interactions in Snow-Covered Habitats Ursula Peintner

Microbial life is very active in snow-covered soil. However, knowledge about microbial diversity and interactions of psychrotolerant soil organisms especially is still very limited

Fungi prokaryote interactions are addressed with a combination of molecular tools, modern analytical methods, cultivation techniques and FISH. Environmental data (e.g. soil properties) are included in the constrained analyses to yield explanatory variables of differences between MCs. By including cultivation techniques and mycological systematics, metabarcoding data are put on solid ground, and identification of environmental sequences is improved.
