Thomas Feuerstein employs biochemical processes as a means of artistic expression and creates an installation at the interface of art and a natural scientific experimental set-up. He transforms the rooms into a coherent ensemble of greenhouse, laboratory, cooling chamber and factory.

Fungi cause major crop devastation on a global scale, exacerbated by climate change with long-term knock-on consequences for food security. However, fungi also provide critical ecosystem services through extensive carbon and nutrient cycling in the soil.

MSc Dubraska Moreno just arrived from Caracas to join the Zeilinger lab for her PhD project which will focus on the analysis of the cellular and sytemic growth responses during mycoparasitic chemotropism.

Dr. Alexander Lichius from the Institute of Microbiology, University of Innsbruck recently co-authored a paper on the influence of sterole precursors on cell-cell recognition and fusion in Neurospora crassa.

The study group's content is based around: Problem-based learning, Python programming for biologists, R - data manipulation & statistics. It's open to anyone interested and no previous programming knowledge required.
